I am looking for backpacking work in australia, Brisbane or Melbourne. Or if anyone knows of any work for japanese people who speak little English. Your help would be fantastic, thank you.

Your most likely bet would be in a Japanese restaurant. Probably something on the bottom end of the scale such as clearing tables or dishwashing, but you might get into the food preparation side if you are lucky (and any good at it)

Most small motels and inns in the country regularly accept backpackers as temporary workers. Larger hotels are now also following the trend and getting travelers for temporary work. Remember to check the message boards in the lobby of the place to see what jobs are being offered to travelers like you. And if you are lucky enough, you can actually have everything arranged so that, instead of being paid, you actually work for your accommodations.
